About the role
You will be responsible for supporting the Analytics team with the oversight of the MS Reinsurance underwriting portfolio through the application of the Performance Management Framework and providing analysis into performance. This involves providing challenge & support for the underwriting strategy across the underlying segments based on analysis of internal data and external market information.
Your responsibilities
- Organise and produce analysis and documentation for annual portfolio reviews
- Attend class portfolio reviews and provide challenge to underwriting teams
- Deliver analytical insights into underwriting performance across MS Reinsurance by collaborating with Underwriting Pricing Risk and Reserving teams to identify areas of concern and opportunity and support actions to optimise business performance
- Conduct external research to provide market insights and benchmark MS Res underwriting portfolio enabling the team to support or challenge strategic direction
- Monitor key performance indicators to highlight areas of concern and communicate findings with underwriting teams
- Maintain oversight of pricing and exposure management acceptability by class of business ensuring appropriate management of the pricing cycle
- Track performance against business plans including deviations in product types territories line sizes aggregate exposure and modelled losses and recommend actions as needed
- Attend reserving meetings as required and provide input on ultimate premiums loss projections and reserve adequacy
- Manage and enhance tools for analysis and reporting; collaborate with the central Data team to leverage existing infrastructure and ensure consistency in data reporting
- Prepare reports for executive committee meetings
Your profile
- University degree in Mathematics Actuarial Science or a related field
- Preference for candidates with actuarial qualifications or a background in data science
- 510 years of experience in the insurance industry ideally with exposure to reinsurance
- Proven experience working within actuarial or analytics teams
- Solid understanding of insurance and reinsurance principles
- Proficient in actuarial methods and analytical techniques
- Skilled in using analytical software; familiarity with Power BI is a plus
- Strong collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams and independently
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and its application to (re)insurance challenges
- Fluent in English both written and spoken
