Job Description

Introduction

Are you an enthusiastic Electromechanical Technical Engineer interested in the development manufacturing and operation of superconducting accelerator magnets Join a dedicated team pushing the limits of superconducting accelerator magnets to shape the future of the largest accelerator in the world take part!

The Magnets Superconductors and Cryostats (MSC) group in CERNs Technology Department (TE) has the mandate to design construct and measure the superconducting and normal conducting magnets for the CERN accelerator complex. This includes magnet integration cryostat design quality control and operational support across the accelerator chain.

Within MSC the Large Magnet Facility Section (LMF) leads the construction maintenance and support of the accelerators superconducting magnets. It also produces and maintains busbars electrical connections and interconnections. Current work includes the construction of coils magnets and cold masses for the HL-LHC project as well as preparations for the upcoming Long Shutdown 3. The team is also involved in the development of future superconducting magnets for example within the High Field Magnets program and experimental superferric magnets. All activities are carried out in a purpose-built facility on the CERN site.
