Introduction
Are you a motivated engineer or applied physicist in the field of accelerator physics who is passionate about pioneering advancements in beam loss detection at the highenergy frontier Take part!
You will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY) which is responsible for the beamrelated technical systems of the CERN accelerators. The SY teams design build and operate equipment systems in all CERN accelerators and are engaged in ambitious forwardlooking R&D programmes.
The position will be in the Beam Loss Measurement Section (BL) of the Beam Instrumentation Group (BI). You will take part in the development of beam loss detectors for present and future accelerators with strong involvement on the Future Circular Collider ElectronPositron (FCCee). You will have the opportunity to contribute to various fields including data analysis and simulations research and development of new beam particles detectors and identify strategic directions for the development of future beam loss monitors.
Functions
You will:
- Participate in the collection of beam loss detector specifications for FCCee;
- Study the evolution of the FCCee beam parameters and how they affect the choice of beam loss detection technologies;
- Participate in the definition of the beam loss detector layout for FCCee;
- Perform simulations to assess the detector response for the different technologies evaluated;
- Analysing interpreting and summarising the results of measurements describing and documenting results or developments; disseminating and publishing the outcomes;
- Represent CERN at conferences workshops academic training and outreach.
