Position Description: The Carpenter constructs erects installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wood plywood wallboard and other materials using carpenters hand tools and power tools while conforming to local building codes and adhering to all applicable Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) requirements. Studies blueprints sketches or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required such as lumber or fiberboard and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.

Essential Duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Finish carpentry such as installing interior and exterior trim casework building stairs and laying hardwood floors
Fits and installs prefabricated window frames doors door-frames weather stripping interior and exterior trim and finish hardware such as locks letter drops and kick plates
Selects specified and appropriate type of lumber or other materials based on defined specifications
Read and understand blueprints shop drawings and other building plans to meet design specifications
Prepares layout using the appropriate measuring tools
Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails dowel pins glue and other fasteners
Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob or carpenters level
Covers sub-floor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood parquet and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to sub-floor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base
Applies shock-absorbing sound-deadening and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls
Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete
Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
Applies protective coatings such as sealer paint varnish or other finishes to various surfaces
Supports civil construction projects by assisting with general labor duties such as:
Excavation and site preparation tasks (e.g. digging leveling ground and clearing debris)
Carrying and transporting materials to and from work areas
Assisting in the setting and removal of concrete forms
Loading and unloading equipment materials and supplies
Operating hand and power tools as needed for construction and labor tasks
Assisting with installing and securing temporary structures such as fences or barriers
Cleaning and maintaining work sites to ensure a safe and organized environment
Assisting other tradesmen and workers on civil construction tasks such as trenching grading backfilling and connecting underground utilities.
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to interpret and build commercial and residential projects according to architectural drawings specifications and other documents
Ability to lift 50 pounds and to operate power tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to safely operate powered hand tools (Required)
Commercial Construction Experience: 1 year (Required)
Carpentry: 3 years (Required)
License/Certification: Drivers License (Preferred)
Labor type: New construction renovation demolition of existing construction
Schedule:
Monday thru Thursday
Work Location: Multiple locations throughout Washington and Oregon
Typical start time: 6 a.m.
Typical end time: 4 p.m.
May be asked to work overtime/weekends based on project needs
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position is required to lift objects up to 50 pounds walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts pushes pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without excessive fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand hand with arm two hands) and multi-limbed coordination. The position requires full mobility of the back arms and legs in the course of performing this job. The employee must have excellent stamina.
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is exposed to wet cold heat quickly changing conditions work near moving mechanical parts work in high precarious places outdoor weather conditions extreme cold and extreme heat.

Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening for safety sensitive positions
Possess a valid drivers license and insurable driving record

Pay: $18 - $35 depending on experience and qualifications
