About the Work Unit:
The Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) seeks to advance environmental justice in Colorado and implement statutory environmental justice mandates including specific benchmarks and targets established by the Environmental Justice Act. We work in partnership with disproportionately impacted communities (DI communities); the Environmental Justice Advisory Board (EJAB); other federal state local and tribal government partners; and offices and divisions with CDPHE. Our role includes meaningful engagement of DI communities; administering the Environmental Justice Grants Program and Supplemental Environmental Projects; partnering with the Water Quality Control Division to implement the Mobile Home Water Quality Act; providing high-quality spatial analysis and mapping through Enviroscreen and the DI Communities Map; and facilitating Environmental Equity and Cumulative Impact Analysis.
What You Will Be Doing:The purpose of this position is to serve as the manager for Environmental Language Services in the Office of Environmental Justice. This role is responsible for executing the statutory requirement that OEJ ensure that language services are available to the Environmental Divisions at CDPHE which includes developing and executing processes for providing translation and interpretation services ensuring the quality of services provided by staff and contractors supervising staff liaising with Communications Division and serving as a Spanish language translator for topics related to environmental health environmental justice and water quality.
Residency Requirement:
This posting is only open to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application.Seven (7) years of relevant experience in English/Spanish translation transcreation editing and proofreading.
A combination of related education in Spanish Language Spanish or Latino/a Culture Communications Public Health Environmental Sciences or related field and/or relevant experience in English/Spanish translation transcreation editing and proofreading equal to seven (7) years

Supervisory experience
Experience with translation of technical content related to environmental justice environmental health environmental regulations and/or public health.
Experience developing technical guidance documents such as glossaries of terms
Experience providing quality oversight for third-party translators and/or interpreters
Experience working with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive way.
A degree in translation or completion of a certificate training program for translators.
Proficiency with computer assisted translation (CAT) tools (preferably SDL Trados Studio)
Conditions of Employment:
