Summary/Objective:

The Athletic Trainer position works with athletes of all ages to prevent diagnose and treat injuries of muscles or bones. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals when advanced medical care such as surgery or MRIs are required.


Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Promotes the mission and values of the organization.

  • Provide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence decreasing functional limitations and prevention of injuries to the individual patient/athlete.

  • Upon the advance advice and consent of a physician carry out the practice of prevention recognition evaluation management disposition treatment and/or rehabilitation of injuries.

  • Perform evaluations of injuries follow standing orders for treatment management of the injury or refer the athlete to a physician.

  • Provide education in the prevention of injuries conditioning and rehabilitation of injuries.

  • Document evaluative findings treatments that were administered the patient assessment and the patients treatment plan.

  • Clean and maintain treatment area and workspace.

  • Provide emergency care within the Athletic Training scope of practice.

  • Ability to work in a wide variety of settings.

  • Effectively communicate with the patient/athlete family physician and/or coach regarding the patient/athletes injury and his/her ability to return to work/practice/competition.

  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree from a CAATE accredited university athletic training program.

  • Licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.

  • Must hold a current BLS for healthcare providers.

  • Must have all state required clearances.

  • 1-2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills for accurate concise and organized verbal and written interactions with patients and co-workers.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
