In this role youll:


As part of Transport for NSWs transformative agenda the Transport Asset Manager (TAM) has been established to enhance the safety and reliability of the states heavy rail assets facilitating long-term investment in rail infrastructure while also allowing for efficient operations and asset surety.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Specialist to lead the strategic management of Heavy Rail Facilities & this critical role you will work across a diverse and complex asset class within Transport for NSW and Treasury frameworks. Your role will be pivotal in developing maintaining and continuously improving strategic asset management plans and investment strategies ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. You will provide expert assurance that asset management maintenance and operational performance meet rigorous requirements supporting the long-term reliability and sustainability of NSWs heavy rail infrastructure.


Key Accountabilities:


Maintain and ensure accuracy compliance and currency of the Asset Register across the asset class.
Prepare evidence-based business cases reports and strategic recommendations by analysing data assessing risks evaluating costs and consulting stakeholders.
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop integrated investment plans aligned with long-term infrastructure strategies system reliability and funding considerations.
Lead the creation and delivery of integrated Transport Asset Management Strategic Assets and Services Plans (TAM SASP) and Asset and Services Plans (TAM ASP) for the portfolio.
Provide technical assurance on safety environmental maintenance and operational performance of the asset class.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for asset improvements including technology adoptions upgrades renewals and divestments to optimize lifecycle value.
Participate in governance as the asset owner approving changes in program intent related to acquisition sustainment renewal and divestment activities.
Act as the voice of the owner by providing strategic advice and final signoff on asset governance matters in collaboration with the Passenger Integration and Planning (PIP) team.



Key Challenges:


Establishing and enhancing collaborative methods across Transport for NSWs asset portfolio.
Managing the lifecycle and operational demands of heavy rail facilities property energy and utilities in a complex regulatory and stakeholder environment.
Balancing investment planning and asset strategies to optimize cost performance and risk for diverse asset categories while ensuring network resilience and sustainability.

About you


Extensive experience in strategic asset management preferably within heavy rail or transport infrastructure sectors.
Strong skills in risk assessment business case development data analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Proven ability to lead integrated investment planning and deliver complex asset management plans.
Deep understanding of asset lifecycle management safety environmental compliance and governance.
Capacity to influence senior leaders and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering asset management or related fields are highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience managing complex facilities including stations depots substations and operational buildings.
Understanding of building services (HVAC fire safety vertical transport) and compliance standards.
