Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists dentist during examination and treatment of children (and adults as necessary).
- Application of sealants monitoring of nitrous coronal polishing and application of fluoride.
- Sterilizes and disinfects instruments not sent to Central Sterilization and Processing cleans dental carts and sets up instrument trays daily according to guidelines established by the hospital.
- Prepares materials and assists dentist during dental procedures on children (and adults as necessary) daily.
- Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of children (and adults as necessary).
- Takes and exposes dental x-rays on children (and adults as necessary) as ordered by dentist.
- Provides post-operative instructions to parents/patients that are provided by the dentist.
- Transports medications as requested excluding controlled substances following established medication security guidelines.
- Performs other job-related functions.
- Performs clerical and receptionist duties.
Skills & Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED required
- RDA - Registered Dental Assistant by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required
- BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association required
- NOM CERT - Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Cert by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required
- 2 years experience in a health care setting required
