Maintenance Repairer 1/2 (Slidell)

The Maintenance Repairer 1/2 is responsible for performing skilled repair and maintenance work related to the grounds and non-highway roadways of the Southeast Louisiana Cemetery. This includes upkeep of the physical plant and associated equipment. The role operates under the general supervision of the Horticultural Superintendent.

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR

Six semester hours in construction management construction technology or engineering or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties:

As a Maintenance Repairer 1/2 you will be responsible for performing skilled repair and maintenance work related to the grounds and non-highway roadways of the Southeast Louisiana this role you will:

• Perform documented maintenance/preventative maintenance on all equipment to include water wells changing oil grease and replacing fuses as needed.
• Pull and repair/replace motors as maintenance on tow blower motor changing oil belts and fuses as needed and routinely clean sludge.
• Manage the MyGoat automated grass cutting system
• Monitor and document the facilitys oxygen vacuum system.
• Assist horticultural and mobile equipment operator personnel with burial and interment operations as needed.
• Perform maintenance duties on the fire alarm and sprinkler system.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a probational or promotional appointment. Preference may be given to current employees of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
