Job Description

Job Summary:
The Operational Excellence Manager for O&M in a City Gas Distribution (CGD) company is
responsible for enhancing the efficiency reliability safety and sustainability of operations
and maintenance processes across the gas pipeline network and associated
infrastructure. The role involves identifying bottlenecks implementing best practices and
driving continuous improvement using structured methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Improvement & Standardization:
Analyze current O&M processes including pipeline maintenance valve operation
cathodic protection meter management leak detection etc.
Lead initiatives to improve asset utilization reduce unaccounted-for gas (UFG) and
enhance turnaround times.
Develop SOPs and ensure standardization of best practices across different
operational zones.
Lean & Six Sigma Projects:
Lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives to reduce downtime improve MTTR (Mean Time to
Repair) and enhance preventive maintenance schedules.
Identify cost-saving and resource optimization opportunities.
Technology Integration:
Collaborate with IT teams to implement/improvise SCADA GIS CMMS
(Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and IoT-based condition
monitoring tools.
Ensure real-time monitoring and analytics to support predictive maintenance.
Safety & Compliance:
Monitor adherence to PNGRB guidelines PESO norms and OISD standards.
Participate in internal audits HAZOP studies safety drills and compliance
assessments.
Support RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action)
processes following any incidents.
KPI Monitoring & Reporting:
Track KPIs like:
o Network uptime
o Leak response time
o Gas pressure compliance
o Maintenance SLA adherence
o Safety incident rates
Prepare dashboards and reports for management reviews.
Training & Culture Building:
Conduct workshops and training for field staff on continuous improvement safety
and SOP adherence.
Foster a culture of proactive problem-solving and ownership in field teams.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 11 years of experience in Operations & Maintenance in gas oil or utility
sectors.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt preferred).
Working knowledge of oil & gas network operations SCADA systems pipeline
integrity management and asset lifecycle.
Strong analytical leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
Knowledge of regulatory norms (PNGRB PESO OISD).
Preferred Attributes:
Experience in handling emergency response and disaster recovery plans.
Familiarity with digital transformation in O&M (IoT sensors AI for predictive
maintenance).
Ability to work in a fast-paced field-driven environment with distributed teams.
