Job Description

Reports To Supervisor

A&A Senior Managers and above within the A&A Team

Summary of Job Function

At LGA our primary focus is on our people. As a Manager in LGAs Audit and Assurance service line you will be responsible for leading and overseeing audit projects for a range of clients ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Experience in planning and performing audits reviews and compilation engagements
  • Familiarity with accounting and auditing procedures and a general understanding of GAAP
  • Familiarity with accounting and auditing procedures under IFRS is a plus not required
  • Well versed in the preparation and/or review of financial statements
  • Experience in both the preparation and review of audit documentation workpapers testing etc.
  • Able to obtain an understanding of various clients accounting systems and internal control systems and the ability to identify areas for improvement internal control deficiencies areas susceptible etc.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple client projects and multiple engagement teams especially during busy seasons which includes traveling to client sites
  • Ongoing commitment to continuing education and professional growth
  • Demonstrates advanced accounting auditing and compilation proficiencies and is sought out by peers as a resource in respective specialization(s)
  • Initiates engagement plan to maximize efficiency and effectiveness on engagements; executes engagement plan with limited assistance from the partner
  • Prepares/reviews financial statement drafts or other attest reports. Such reports are complete and accurate. Identifies discussion topics and recommends solutions for final conclusion with the partner. Works with QC on technical matters
  • Provides guidance to client and staff regarding appropriate internal controls. Recognizes deficiencies in controls and recommends solutions to the partner
  • Proactively identifies and communicates accounting and auditing issues to clients provides value added advice; actively seeks specialized knowledge
  • Researches and recommends solutions on high risk and complex technical issues. Uses Firms technology platform to enhance engagement efficiency; develops technology strategy during engagement overall engagement planning
  • Ensures overall engagement team quality of research documentation and client deliverables.
  • Effectively reviews engagement team deliverables to ensure completeness and accuracy and helps the team to develop self-review skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Taxation or a related field
  • Masters degree in Accountancy or Tax or a plan to pursue preferred
  • CPA or EA certification or a plan to pursue preferred
  • 5-9 years experience in a related field

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook etc.).
  • Experience with the CCH Suite of Products (ProSystem fx Tax Engagement Document Portal) is a plus.
  • Experience with DataSnipper is a plus.
  • Ability to review and troubleshoot A&A software issues and guide junior staff in usage.
  • Comfortable working in a technology-driven paperless environment.
  • Strong organizational skills detail oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and be flexible in tasks and time while managing your workload with adjustments to your schedule especially during peak workload times in the service line.
  • Demonstrated skill in reviewing audits prepared by junior team members identifying errors and ensuring compliance.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior team members providing constructive feedback.
  • Acts as a culture carrier ensuring alignment with the firms vision and values.
  • Respect for compliance and confidentiality.
