About theRole:
TheCommunications Assistant supports the Sunshine Coast Community Services Society(SCCSS) by promoting its mission programs and events to both internal andexternal audiences. This role creates clear and compelling messaging anddelivers it through diverse channels including social media websites andnewsletters. The aim is to ensure stakeholders understand SCCSS what it doesand how they can get involved.
The CommunicationsAssistant is responsible for content creation graphic design writingediting and proofreading content for digital print and social media. Thisrole also involves applying brand guidelines consistently across allcommunications and updating and maintaining website content. The CommunicationsAssistant reports to the Communications & Fund Development Coordinator.
What Youll Do:
Content Creation & Coordination
- Writeedit proofread and publish content for print digital social mediawebsites and event materials.
- Collaboratewith program teams to gather stories quotes photos and statistics tohighlight the organizations impact.
- Maintaincontent calendars and support the development of the annual report.
Design & Brand Management
- Create andformat materials using Adobe InDesign while applying brand guidelinesconsistently across all communications.
- Edit andresize images create basic graphics and prepare files for both print anddigital distribution.
- Applyknowledge of print production requirements including bleeds vector formatsand color profiles.
Media & Digital Communications
- Update andmaintain website content.
- Manage andschedule social media content.
- Supportemail marketing campaigns.
- Assist withlogistics for interviews photo opportunities and media events.
Project & Event Support
- Assist withcommunications planning for events campaigns and initiatives.
- Maintainorganized communications files and asset libraries.
- Track andreport on performance metrics.
WhatYou Bring:
- Diplomaor degree in communications marketing journalism or a related field or anequivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimumof two years of related experience.
- Proficiencyin Adobe InDesign Microsoft Office Suite and comfort using Canva.
- Understandingof brand management and print production best practices including bleedscolor profiles and font management.
- Strongwriting editing and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstratedexperience creating and publishing content across web social media and printplatforms.
- Excellentorganizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multipleprojects and deadlines effectively.
- Stronginterpersonal skills with the ability to adapt communication for diverseaudiences.
- Knowledge of the impacts of colonization including residential schools on Indigenous peoples.
- Experiencewith email marketing tools is considered an asset.
- Workingknowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator is considered an asset.
- Experiencein the non-profit sector is considered an asset.
