Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The LEEP (Life & Employability Enhancement Program) Employment Resource Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day supervision assignment scheduling and review of peers work quality of programs and services provided in consultation with the supervisor while ensuring a healthy and safe environment. This position provides direct support and assistance to the students including emotional and physical support along with crisis intervention during their scheduled shift.
Note: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described below but perform a similar range of duties as per the directive of the Team Leader/ Director
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Work Placement Partnership Management:
Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of business and industry representatives to promote and ensure successful participant work experience placement.
Maintain polite and professional communication in person via phone email and mail.
Set up interviews for the participants providing necessary support with employers for the work experience placements (attending interviews as needed).
Prepare and submit all necessary documents associated with LEEP Contracts.
2. Labour Market Intelligence
Remain current on Winnipeg labour market trends and the most effective job search strategies techniques and monitoring of marketplace trends.
On-going internet research of job leads.
Locate job openings for participants based on their individual skills and abilities.
3. Direct participant services
Facilitate check-ins with participants twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays).
Develop and update participants resumes.
Work with participants on an individual basis regarding their job search progress and activities.
Conduct follow-ups with participants upon leaving program to update employment status.
4. Documentation
Completion of Employee Check In Employer Check In Leaving and 90-day Follow up forms.
Data entry of program information.
Completion of reports and documentation on all program activities.
Collaborate with Program Supervisor and other program staff to develop short term employment plan (work experience placements) and long-term career plans.
5. Administration
Collection of registration documents on the first day of each session.
Preparation and distribution of program materials.
Assist in intake assessments for program eligibility (interviews).
Attend meetings as required.
Perform other position-related duties and tasks as assigned

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to: LEEP Team Leader or designate
Direct reports for this position: Responsible for their own time and effort only
May demonstrate work methods to new employees volunteers and/or students.
Participate in staff meetings and training opportunities.
Be familiar with agency policy and procedures and implement into daily tasks.
As required and applicable make suggestions that will improve efficiency working conditions or procedures to management.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
Responsible for the wise use of member and program resources.
May be authorized to spend disburse or collect small amounts of cash.
Maintain complete records of financial transactions as per agency policies.
Assist in the completion of inventory as requested.
Responsible for the completion and secure storage of records and documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Families requirements.
Record and report activities behaviours and any incidents which occur during the shift.
Keep accurate documentation as to program vehicle usage and maintenance.
Ensure facility is kept in accordance with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Families requirements.
Perform necessary housekeeping duties and report any maintenance issues as they arise.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hours of work (i.e. Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (1/2 hour unpaid meal break )
The incumbents typical work environment is a combination of on-line and in person class program facility with minor to moderate amounts of office work and off-site meetings.
Significant amounts of work accompanying students into the community.
Working conditions may include dealing with verbal abuse angry or abusive people.
The incumbent may have little to moderate travel required.
Moderate exposure to hazards: domestic cleaning supplies; handling of waste (garbage) bodily fluids/wastes sharp objects dirt/dust/odor hot equipment (ovens stoves etc.).
Minor to moderate exposure to hazards: physical attack from students and traffic accidents when driving
Minor exposure to hazards: infectious diseases toxic chemicals scabies lice and/or bed bugs emergency response situations (fire bomb threat etc.) and other potentially dangerous situations.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
The successful job applicant will have completed Post Secondary Education in the health/social services field.
Experience in providing employment education and counselling within a cross-cultural community
Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office email and internet.
Current certification in CPR Emergency First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
Equivalent of work and education experience in the related field may be considered
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
Knowledge of the Manitoba Labour Market and job search techniques.
Valid Manitoba Class V driver license with the ability to provide own transportation
Winnipeg or RCMP Police Services Check
Child Abuse Registry Check
Adult Abuse Registry Check

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $20.32 to $25.40 with a maximum of $30.48.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
