YOU are in the right place!The primary purpose of this position is to identify blind or visually impaired people whose disability creates a substantial impediment to employment and enable them to obtain employment. This is achieved through the provision of a planned program of rehabilitation services including job development and placement services and direct interaction with employers in the community to assist the person in achieving employment commensurate with his/her skills choice interests and capabilities. The counselor in this position is primarily responsible for providing and coordinating these services to individuals who are blind and visually impaired attending school in the Cumberland County Public School System.
Sign-on Bonus Eligibility:
Only candidates for probationary permanent or time-limited positions may be eligible for sign-on or retention be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limitedemployee in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government including without limitation thejudicial system state executive branch agencies and the university system.
Employees eligible for a sign-on bonus must work at least 20 hours per week. Bonuses for eligible employees working in part-time positions will be prorated based on hours worked.

The following Management Preferences are not required but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
Knowledge of or experience in case management
Knowledge of or experience working with a team of professionals to help a client meet a goal
Experience with working with youth in transition
Experience working with blind and visually impaired individuals
Experience working with school personnel/staff
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling from an appropriately accredited institution;
OR
Masters degree in a related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution;
OR
Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.Supplemental and Contact Information

Military Experience
