Mold Setter Job Description

This is a skilled position that supports production by installing complex molding dies into electronically controlled molding presses. It requires adjusting the press and dies to safely and efficiently produce quality parts.
Overview

Duties Retrieve molds from the storage area and deliver them to the molding press. Ensure all safety devices are operational and functioning correctly. Operate all presses to install the mold into the press adjust it and connect all water lines and cables as required. Configure the molding press settings and setup auxiliary equipment per work instructions. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot production issues repairing or replacing components as necessary. Upon production completion remove molds/auxiliary equipment and return them to the storage area. Operate forklifts and cranes safely and efficiently to support operations. Maintain a clean and organized workspace around the press. Accurately complete reports related to production quality and scrap. Demonstrate proficiency with hand tools measuring devices and the interpretation of blueprints drawings and schematics. Enter data into a computer. Comply with all policies at LMC Industries. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mold setting or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various hand tools and machinery.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to mold setup.
  • Ability to perform quality inspections and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and logical thinking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.

TOOL REQUIREMENTS

Must provide own tools to perform the necessary job duties in a locked tool box/cart.

Tools required: 3/8 Drive Socket Set>5/16-7/8 Drive Socket Set>3/8-1 1/8 Allen Wrench Set SAE>.5-3/8 Allen Wrench Set Metric>1.5mm-10mm One Chisel and Punch Set>10 or more pieces One Combination Wrench Set (Box or Open)>1/4-1 1/8 One Screwdriver Set>Slotted & Phillips>3 or more of each type One Slip Joint Pliers>6-8 One Side Cut Pliers One Vise Grip 6-8 One Adjustable Wrench 8-12 and One Ball Peen Shop Hammer 16oz.-20oz. Other tools may be required based on job duties.
