Job Description

Shenandoah Universitys Office of Athletics and Events Center is accepting applications for a Director of Campus Events. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester Virginia.

The Director is responsible for the oversight and budgeting of Campus Events. The Director will cultivate the Campus Event experience for both internal and external contacts in standardisation across all facilities. They will assist with campus wide initiatives of facility coordination and communication. They are responsible for campus facilities available for reservations. The Director will proactively address the needs that may arise in the diverse uses of these campus facilities and serve as a back-up for Campus Services during busy times.

  • Responsible for space coordination and management for Shenandoah University Campus. Including billing and evaluation of events. This will include hands on set up when student staffing is unavailable.
  • Assist in Coordination and Event Management when bookings crass multiple departments or external events. Events include but are not limited to Commencement Convocation Harlem Globetrotters Apple blossom and Homecoming.
  • Makes certain that all events are in compliance with the Shenandoah University Use of Facilities Policy standardization needs ad Eventy Safety needs.
  • Coordinates regularly with the Athletics Department of Auxiliary Services Risk Management physical plant including but not limited to Custodial Services Food Services and other University departments.
  • Ensures there is appropriate staffing for all events including pre-event set-up and post event cleaning and set-up for daily operations.
  • Leadership on event software systems and space utilization.
  • Maintenance Contracts for Athletics Facilities in conjunction with the Athletic Department.
  • Interviews selects trains and supervises student and/or temporary personnel.
  • Assist in Campus Services Office during times of need.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Experience in facility/building operations management housekeeping supervision event (including athletics) planning and set-up preferred.
  • Training and experience in sound reinforcement and other technical aspects of event management is preferred.
