Job Description

Treks Integrated Products Team is looking for an intern to help operate our e-Bike test machine located at Trek Headquarters in Waterloo Wisconsin. The duration of the job would run from September through November 2025.

Exact start and end dates are TBD based on students availability.

Working hours per week are negotiable based on the students availability with classes. This is a paid internship at $20 per hour.

Internship Description:

  • The focus of the work is to run tests on our machine characterizing the performance of both existing and new e-Bike systems. We evaluate mid-drive and HUB motor system along with throttle and pedal assist inputs.
    • Tests of interest include:
      • Motor assistance power output vs. input
      • Generation of TPE curves
      • Thermal motor performance degradation
      • Range testing
      • Market specific compliance testing
    • Testing output includes:
      • Test reports should detail initial setup parameters variable assumptions and graphs to communicate results.
      • Collaborate with engineering teams on results to help arrive at conclusions and to identify opportunities for improvement.
      • In most cases we will be identifying improvements using the firmware settings or parameter adjustments at the MCU level.
      • We also may look at hardware-related design details to identify improvement options.
    • Documentation of test protocols and procedures.
      • Detailed documentation that explains how to perform tests Trek has adopted for e-Bike development and research.
      • Help with automating data post processing to increase the speed and efficiency of generating useful data.
