Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care:
    • Collect and shares pertinent information with the provider
    • Receives and acts on directives from the provider
  • Assist orthopedic providers with virtual patient assessments
  • Guide patients in using remote monitoring tools digital intake forms and telehealth platforms
  • Monitor care dashboards and triage patient-reported data (pain function adherence)
  • Schedule virtual visits physical therapy follow-ups or diagnostics in collaboration with providers
  • Assist with onboarding patients into the digital care pathway (pre- and post-op care conservative treatment plans etc.)
  • Serve as a care navigator for surgical and non-surgical orthopedic patients
  • Conduct outreach to ensure compliance with treatment plans and protocols
  • Communicate test results imaging updates and provider instructions via secure digital platforms
  • Coordinate referrals authorizations and orders
  • Responsible for preparing the patient for the virtual visit with the provider
    • Duties include but are not limited to obtaining vitals reviewing intake paperwork accurate data entry into EMR
  • Responsible for completing tasks associated with company initiatives such as PROs Quality Payment Programs etc.
  • Assist the provider in preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical and patient forms
  • Retrieves and responds to voicemails within 24 business hours and documents actions in EMR
  • Prepares patient electronic charts for clinic visits before the date of service
  • Scans clinical documents into EMR
  • Reviews clinic schedulesonthemorning ofthe date of service
  • Ensures patient receives education as indicated bytheprovider
  • ManagesEMR desktops of assigned provider promptly
  • Create and promote positive patient experience
  • Maintain HIPAA compliant environment
  • Other duties as assigned by VBC leadership

EDUCATION

High school diploma/GED and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in orthopedic or musculoskeletal care setting
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and digital health tools
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort with technology telehealth and remote patient monitoring platforms
  • Experience with care coordination or population health management
  • Familiarity with orthopedic procedures imaging interpretation basics and postoperative protocols

REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee must pass the MA competency exam within the first six months of employment.
  • Active Medical Assistant certification such as Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current membership from National Health Career Association (NHA) (Test administered after 7/1/2017 only) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT) or per State regulations
  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance managed care operations EMR and scheduling software.
  • Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for meaningful use.
  • BLS certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the health care field.
  • General knowledge of patient care in a clinic.
  • Knowledge of medical assistant skills.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality state laws HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures.

  • Requires strong computer skills including the ability to work with medical software.
  • Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professionalism when interacting with providers co-workers patients family members and the public.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change.

ABILITIES

  • Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image as a HOPCO employee both at work and on Social Media.
  • Ability to plan prioritize and complete delegated work assignments.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion when dealing with patients and family members.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Remote work environment.
  • Occasional travel to the corporate office and different clinic locations.
  • Some travel within the State.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Standard remote environment.
  • Some travel within the community.
  • Some bending and stretching are required.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
