Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an Upper School Robotics Coach for the 2025-2026 School Year.


Overview:

The Upper School Robotics Coach provides year-round coordination guidance and leadership for Columbus School for Girls Robotics Team participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). This role works in partnership with technical mentors student leaders and external partners to support student engagement in engineering leadership and applied learning through robotics.


Key Responsibilities:


Team Leadership & Student Support

  • Serve as the primary school liaison for all robotics activities
  • Support student leadership in team structure build planning and award applications
  • Attend and help facilitate 12 weekday practices per week and partial Saturday sessions during build season (JanuaryApril)
  • Supervise and attend travel for 12 competitions (local and/or regional)

Program Planning & Communication

  • Collaborate with technical mentors to align mentorship and student needs
  • Communicate with team parents regarding schedules travel and volunteer needs
  • Plan and execute student safety training and fall lab workshops (SeptNov)
  • Coordinate presence of faculty at build site as needed
  • Oversee trip logistics including transportation lodging and meals

Outreach & Fundraising

  • Lead or assist with grant writing in coordination with the Development Office
  • Cultivate and steward sponsorships and community partnerships
  • Organize team participation in outreach and recruitment events (e.g. COSI Bexley Main Event Ohio State Fair admissions events)
  • Track and celebrate alumnae engagement in STEM and robotics

Budget Oversight & Fund Development

  • Work with program director to propose and monitor annual budget
  • Develop fundraising strategies to offset program costs (e.g. replacing NASA grant)
  • Track historical and prospective donor relationships (e.g. AEP Roush Honda Rev1)

Time Commitment:


JanuaryApril (Build & Competition Season)

  • 68 hours/week including one weekday evening visit and part of Saturday practice
    Additional hours during competitions and team travel (12 regional competitions annually)

MayDecember (Outreach Recruitment Planning)

  • Estimated 24 hours/month for recruiting fall labs fundraising grant writing and summer outreach coordination
