Position Overview

Maintenance Worker II / Turf Maintenance

Hiring Range: $23.00 - $28.75 Depending on Experience

Full-Time/Year-Round Benefited Position!

The Town of Vail is seeking a Maintenance Worker II / Turf Maintenance Technician to join the public works department. Duties for this position may vary depending on the season. During the winter this position is responsible for the snow removal cleaning and maintenance of all streets infrastructure and related the summer this position will ensure the parks and open spaces are well maintained including inspections and maintenance of the Town of Vails landscapes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Shoveling to keep sidewalks and roads free of ice and snow.
  • Keep all pedestrian areas stairs sidewalks walk paths bridges and bus stops clear of snow ice and trash.
  • Keep the villages clean by continuing checking them and hand sweeping daily changing trash containers and walking the villages frontage roads and interstate picking up trash.
  • Inspections and maintenance of the Town of Vails irrigation system.
  • Perform digging & shovel work.
  • Assist with spring clean up including raking sweeping trash removal fertilization.
  • Maintenance of Town of Vail parks and open space properties including general maintenance and care of park landscapes gardens lawns grounds etc.
  • Operates all grounds maintenance equipment; riding mowers hand mowers and utility vehicles.
  • May be assigned to other specific functions within the Public Works Department.

In addition they must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid CO drivers license (clean driving record)
  • Knowledge and experience working withirrigation systems
  • Previous outdoor maintenance or manual labor experience preferred
  • Must be able to perform job duties requiring stooping bending heavy lifting and physical exertion full range of body motion required.
  • Requires working shifts to include nights and/or weekends and must be available to work holidays and events when necessary.

Work environment and conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job normally is exposed to the outdoors in all weather conditions (including extreme cold temperatures) and all types of equipment noise traffic dust heights chemicals fumes and bio hazards.
  • The position involves mostly outside work with occasional inside work with exposure to all types of equipment noise traffic dust chemicals and fumes.
