Job Description
As an Operational Excellence Engineer you will drive process safety regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves leading incident investigations supporting environmental and safety programs and partnering with cross-functional teams to enhance operational performance.
Requirements
- B.S. in Engineering (Chemical or Environmental preferred)
- 3 years of engineering experience in refining or chemical processing preferred
- Knowledge ofOSHAs Process Safety Management (PSM)andEPAs Risk Management Program (RMP)
- Understanding of OSHA safe work practices and industry safety standards
- Experience leading incident investigations using methodologies such asCause MappingorLearning Teams
- Strong knowledge of OSHA EPA and other safety regulations; familiarity with refining/petrochemical federal emissions standards (40 CFR 60 subparts) a plus
- Excellent communication organizational and team collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and database systems
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to process safety standards
- Lead major incident investigations and coordinate minor investigations ensuring timely completion of action items
- Performroot cause analysesand develop preventive solutions
- Educate employees on investigation methodologies and best practices
- Identify develop and share best practices and lessons learned across the organization
- Analyze potential fire release explosion and dispersion scenarios to prevent and mitigate risks
- Support the design installation and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems
- Provide engineering support forManagement of Change (MOC)processes and conductPre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
- Participate inProcess Hazard Analyses (PHA)andLayer of Protection Analyses (LOPA)
- Track and report Operational Excellence KPIs in partnership with program owners
- Act as an environmental solutions partner aligning daily operations with environmental performance goals
- SupportContinuous Improvementinitiatives arising from incident investigations compliance audits and team recommendations
