Job Description

21st Century Afterschool Enrichment Instructor

The 21st Century Afterschool Enrichment Instructor plays a vital role in designing and implementing dynamic goals and objectives. These objectives revolve around standards-based project-based activities that enhance both academic and social-emotional skills. Whether working with individuals or groups this teacher/instructor fosters creativity and engagement ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for students.

Locations: Crocker McKay Reingold Elementary Schools Longsjo and Memorial Middle Schools

This posting is for both certified and non-certified teachers/instructors.

Qualifications:

  • Both certified and non-certified staff must have an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university in education child development or a related field (or be working towards an associate degree or higher); or have equivalent job experience in the field. Masters Degree preferred.
  • To qualify as a certified teacher/instructor a candidate must have a Certified Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license
    • Any PreK-12 Licensure
    • SEI Endorsement
  • Experience in implementing after-school activities for children;
  • Ability to plan and facilitate academic enrichment workshops aligned with specific standards/focus in ELA Mathematics and Socioemotional Learning;
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations;
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers support staff and parents ;
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders;
  • Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth both academic and social-emotional to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student;
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid preferred training will be provided for candidates who dont already possess training;
  • Preference will be given to staff members currently employed in FPS.
  • Applicants must commit to being present for the full duration of the program.

Responsibilities:

The 21st Century Afterschool Enrichment Instructor will:

  • Be prepared to provide specific details with goals and objectives for a 10-week proposed activity;
    • Please use the cover letter in TalentED to narrate what enrichment activities you could implement that are creative engaging and aligned with an ELA/math and/or SEL educational component.
  • Prepare and implement a standards-based project-based activity with a strong academic component and/or Social/Emotional skill for a minimum of 1 hour per day per session;
  • Take and maintain daily student attendance;
  • Provide differentiated instruction to children with special needs and English language learners;
  • Ensure instructional materials are available for students;
  • Deliver activities/instructions within the specified time frame;
  • Administer and complete pre/post tests and other surveys and assessments as required by the district and 21st Century Grant;
  • Maintain and submit student attendance records weekly to the site coordinator;
  • Other duties as assigned

All program hours must be during out-of-school time. All duties must be performed during non-contractual hours.

Multiple positions available; dependent upon the number of student participants.

  • Session 2: 12/15/25-3/12/26
  • PD & Planning: 3/16/26-3/18/26
  • Session 3: 3/23/26-6/4/26

Intern Orientation and Professional Development Days:

Orientation and Initial Training: September 15- 18 2025

School Year Program Hours:

  • Crocker/Reingold/McKay 3:25 pm-5:55 pm
  • Memorial: 1:50 pm-4:20 pm
  • Longsjo 2:25pm-4:55pm

Total Compensation: Not To Exceed (NTE) 394 hours $35/hr Not To Exceed (NTE): $13790.00. This amount includes all program time as well as all prep and wrap-up required - timesheet submission for payment bi-weekly.

Funding Source: 21st CCLC Grants City Funding
