Job Description

Job Summary

The Associate Director of Student-Athlete Services provides leadership and coordination for key enrollment onboarding and transitional support processes for NCAA Division I student-athletes. This role ensures alignment with university systems while centering the student-athlete experience through strategic partnerships with campus units including Enrollment Services the Bickerstaff Academic Center Housing Compliance and International Education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Admissions & Enrollment Coordination - Serve as the primary liaison between the Department of Athletics Enrollment Services and the Bickerstaff Academic Center to coordinate all admissions-related activities for prospective student-athletes ensuring alignment with university and CSU system policies.
  • Pre-Admissions Compliance Coordination - Manage administrative steps related to NCAA initial and transfer eligibility by organizing documentation and ensuring it is aligned with institutional standards and NCAA requirements. Provide operational information to coaches compliance and Enrollment Services regarding academic standing and transfer applicability.
  • Housing & Dining Services - Coordinate all on-campus housing placement for the academic year summer and pre-season camps: project dorm availability placement roommate switches and move-in/out procedures. Manage the Athletic Departments MOU with Housing and Residential Life.
  • International Student-Athlete Support - Develop a checklist and onboarding protocol for international student-athletes in partnership with CIE and the Bickerstaff Academic Center to ensure a seamless transition. Work with the Director of Compliance in identifying international student-athletes that are on scholarship. Provide support to international student-athletes during their transition to campus.
  • Project Management - Lead special projects and reporting initiatives that support continuous improvement in student-athlete enrollment onboarding and academic success. Collaborate with Institutional Research Compliance and BAC to identify trends gaps and opportunities for student support.

Proficient in basic computer applications and excels in providing high-quality service across various communication channels.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelors degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.

Prior NCAA Division I collegiate or professional athletics preferred.

  • Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Effective 10/1/2025 a new salary step structure and job classifications will be implemented under the CSU-CSUEU Agreement. Job duties will remain unchanged; however this position may be assigned to a new classification with an updated salary range. Employees will be notified of any changes. Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4598 - $8318 per month.

1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

CSULB will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Due to the nature of this position current CSULB employees are subject to a criminal record check unless they have successfully completed a criminal background check through CSULB within the past 12 months.
