The Team:
The BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) is a dedicated and knowledgeable team of conservation officers stationed in communities across the province. As experts in their field they specialize in public safety related to human-wildlife conflict and manage complex partnership with organizations such as the Ministry of Forests the RCMP and Environment Canada the BCCOS is committed to reducing human-wildlife conflict and upholding their vision of being a progressive leader in environmental compliance and public safety. Learn more about our organization and how we protect BCs natural resources at our COS page and by reviewing our recent video at competition is intended to recruit both experienced law enforcement officers wanting to join the BCCOS as well as qualified new recruits who will attend the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy 2026 delivery.

The Role:
As a Conservation Officer with the COS you are entrusted with enforcing 33 federal and provincial statutes to protect the public and preserve peace across British Columbia. Holding Special Provincial Constable Status under the Police Act you are on the frontline of environmental law enforcement conducting a variety of investigations each year in collaboration with multiple agencies. This is a diverse and demanding role that offers the excitement of backcountry patrols wildlife tracking and environmental investigations with each day presenting new and exciting challenges.
Your work will have a direct impact on the safety and well-being of citizens and the environment as you safeguard BCs natural resources.

About this Position:
This posting is to establish an eligibility list for future permanent and temporary vacancies with the BC Conservation Officer Service in multiple locations across the province.
The above list of locations is not exhaustive and is subject to ongoing change. Successful applicants will receive notification of their first geographical Point of Assembly (POA) before commencing the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy.
Depending on the successful candidates location a
bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Newly hired officers will now begin their employment at the same pay level (Grid 24) as their fully trained co-workers. There is no longer an under implementation system in place while recruits are in the academy and on field training.
Students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program of natural resource law enforcement and scheduled to graduate with a diploma or degree by April 30 2026 may be considered for this competition on condition of graduation by April 30 2026.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
