Description

We are seeking a Parent Advocate Coordinator who will be reporting to the Associate Vice President of Foster Care. The Parent Advocate Coordinator is expected to act as a liaison between the Case planning team & Parent Advocates assigned to each foster care unit to help enhance permanency outcomes. The Parent Advocates Coordinator will be responsible for working collaboratively with leadership team to provide oversight & guidance to Parent Advocates in the Foster Care Division. Parent Advocate Coordinator will appropriately utilize their unique lived experience to support parents and families in their journey towards reunification.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

  • Will co-facilitate bi-weekly team meetings between the Case Planning team and Parent Advocates to successfully engage parents.
  • Assist with managing workflow processes ensuring the Parent Advocate are adhering to the PEP module.
  • Provide guidance to Parent Advocates to support parents with navigating the challenges associated with separation and by communicating their needs.
  • Will assist with assigning Parent Advocate to families upon intake and coordinate scheduling Parent to Paret meeting.
  • Maintaina tracking system to ensure that Parent Advocates are documenting their interactions & Parent to Parent meetings in computerized record systems.
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring of new Parent Advocates.
  • Assist with the onboarding process (including the required PEP training and other relevant trainings).
  • Conduct reviews of the Parent Advocate progress notes and provide guidance as needed.
  • Ensure the Parent Advocates attend and participate in critical case conferences.
  • Will representHeartshare St. Vincents Services at internal and external meetings.
  • Assist with creating and implementing ideas to celebrates birth parents participate in hosting event and activities.
  • Maintains accessible resource materials making them available to other HSVS staff and to parents.
  • Co-facilitates quarterly birth parent round table meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate in a related Human Services field preferred.
  • Lived experience as a parent impacted by child welfare (ACS or Preventive Services) case must be closed for at least 1 year.
  • Integrity driven and willingness to work with children youth families and team-oriented setting.
  • Ability to travel within all 5 NYC boroughs and willingness to travel outside of the five boroughs.
  • Willingness and demonstrated capacity to teach train and effectively manage/lead two worksites.
  • Ability to meet deadlines deescalate and manage crisis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/Office and preferably knowledge with Connections.
  • Preferable familiarity with OCFS/ACS regulations & Family Court.
  • Good strategic/critical thinking skills writing organizational leadership skills and written/verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Works both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Able to create and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
