We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Specialist Communications to support corporate communications initiatives for the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop and execute earned media strategies to generate coverage for the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercurys off-court initiatives.
  • Draft media materials including media briefs talking points advisories and press releases.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing corporate partnerships ticket sales and service and Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation teams to identify story opportunities.
  • Manage speaking engagements; create executive briefs
  • Proactively pitch stories to media and staff media interviews.
  • Manage day-to-day media requests by coordinating interview availability and providing relevant background materials.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local media.
  • Monitor media and social media coverage and conversation.
  • Create weekly and monthly media coverage recap reports.
  • Maintain and update media contact lists and databases.
  • Develop and oversee a calendar of appearances events and announcements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Need From Our Specialist Communications:

  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and develop strong relationships
  • Able to multi-task under time constraints meet deadlines and work within a fast-paced industry/environment; must be very detail oriented
  • Excellent communications skills; an ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights weekends holidays
  • Must have basic understanding of Microsoft Office

Experience/ Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of public relations/communications experience.
  • Bachelors degree preferably in communications journalism or public relations.

  • Must be able to carry on a conversation both on the phone and in-person.
  • Ability to Read Write & Speak in English
