City Year Denver is seeking a mission-driven leader to serve as our next Impact Directora key role that shapes the learning development and success of AmeriCorps members serving in classrooms across Denver Public Schools. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young peoples development as community leaders youth development practitioners and educators while ensuring their preparation for an impactful year of service in schools.Job Description
About Us:
City Year is an education-focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on-track to graduate. City Year recruits young people aged 17-25 to serve as AmeriCorps members to commit to a yearof full-time service in schoolswhere they operate as Student Success Coaches by tutoring and mentoring students while acting as a second adult in classrooms. Impact Director Areas of Responsibility:
Learning & Development (40%)
Lead the vision design and implementation of a comprehensive learning and development program that supports the growth of AmeriCorps members across multiple position classifications including Student Success Coaches Service Leaders Teaching Fellows and Social Work Fellows.
Support the Impact team in aligning observation and coaching practices with the learning & development strategy.
Continuously evaluate and improve the learning and development program using qualitative and quantitative feedback from AmeriCorps members staff and partners to ensure training is relevant responsive inclusive and outcomes driven.
Support AmeriCorps members post-service planning through Leadership After City Year (LACY) programming by facilitating access to career exploration graduate school pathways and workforce development opportunities.
Oversee all logistical aspects of in-person and virtual learning experiences including space reservations scheduling and communication with internal and external facilitators to ensure smooth high-quality training delivery.
Workforce Development Pathways (40%)
Teaching Fellowship
Lead weekly synchronous Joy & Belonging whole-child training sessions for Teaching Fellows.
Provide individualized coaching and observation to Teaching Fellows 12 times per month supporting their growth as instructional practitioners and emerging educators with a focus on student impact and continuous improvement.
With the Impact Manager engage in joint observations with Mentor Teachers and participate in video coaching sessions with Arizona State University faculty to provide holistic aligned support.
With the Impact Manager support Teaching Fellows in interpreting and acting on student-level data including Focus List progress to inform targeted interventions and drive academic achievement.
Lead recruitment and selection of new Teaching Fellows from current first-year Student Success Coaches cultivating a strong talent pipeline.
Alongside other members of the Impact team strategically match Teaching Fellows with high-quality Mentor Teachers at partner schools to ensure effective classroom placements and professional learning opportunities.
Partner with City Years national Teaching Fellowship team to share best practices strengthen systems and engage in collaborative problem-solving to continuously enhance program design and delivery.
Social Work Fellowship
Provide individualized coaching and observation to Social Work Fellows once permonth supporting meaning making and connecting school practice and experience with concepts in graduate school.
Organize training sessions for Social Work Fellows based on training needs identified.
With the Impact Manager support Social Work Fellows in interpreting and acting on student-level data including Focus List progress to inform targeted interventions and student success skills achievement.
Alongside other members of the Impact team assess Fellows progress in their graduate program and their service standards.
Alongside other members of the team lead recruitment and selection of new Social Work Fellows from recruitment pipelines.
Youth Mental Health Corps
Oversee City Year Denvers implementation of the Youth Mental Health Corps (YMHC) a public-private partnership that equips AmeriCorps members with credentials and practical skills in behavioral health.
Support AmeriCorps members in completing required YMHC learning modules and applying behavioral health strategies in schools to enhance student support.
Track and analyze post-service outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and continuously improve support structures for corps members career readiness.
Attend monthly community of practice hosted by service commission to share and learn best practices and receive updates related to the program.
Future Workforce Development Pathways
Alongside the Executive Director and Managing Director of Impact build and sustain partnerships with employers higher education partners school district and training providers to develop new pathways for AmeriCorps alumni education or employment.
Collaborate cross-functionally to deepen City Year Denvers ability to provide new credit-for-service and workforce development opportunities.
AmeriCorps Member Experience (15%)
Collaborate across City Year Denver to create the strategy and plan to promote a positive AmeriCorps member experience from confirmation through graduation.
Develop execute and manage scalable systems and standardized protocols for responding to AmeriCorps members who are facing barriers to continued service.
Plan and execute AmeriCorps member recognition and appreciation activities including AmeriCorps Member Appreciation Month in March Graduation in June and Opening Day in August.
Plan and execute City Year Denvers annual service remembrance days including Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Indigenous Peoples Day of Service and Cesar Chavez Day of Service.
Partner cross-functionally with City Year Denver staff around stakeholder engagement meant to support the AmeriCorps member experience.
Serve as a liaison to City Year Denvers site board AmeriCorps Member Experience Committee.
Support Collaborative Site Priorities (5%)
Support City Year Denvers cross-functional priorities by participating in prospective Student Success Coach interviews fundraising events and efforts to improve workplace experience for AmeriCorps members and staff.
Additional responsibilities as to meet the mission and objectives of the organization.
Qualifications:
3 years experience designing and leading learning for adults.
2 years experience leading instruction for K-12 students ideally in a classroom setting.
2 years experience managing existing and cultivating new external partnerships.
Demonstrated background in program development and leveraging data towards continuous systems improvement .
Passion for and commitment to City Years mission of delivering high-impact service to children and schools; developing young adults participating in national service as powerful civic leaders and life-long active citizens; promoting and advancing the concept of voluntary national service; belief in youth as agents of social change .
Candidates with a demonstrated background in coaching emerging teachers or social workers highly preferred.
City Year / AmeriCorps experience preferred.
Must be able to reliably commute to various worksites within Denver.

Compensation and Benefits:
$70000 - $75000 annual salary.
Full-time employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with experience. Benefits for full time employees include comprehensive health insurance with Flexible Spending Account 20 days paid time off 18 paid holidays in 2025-2026 paid parental leave 401K and more.
