Job Summary/Description:
KOLN-TV the strong market leader in the Lincoln/Hastings/Grand Island market is looking for a meteorologist to help lead the stations streaming efforts and accelerate the pace of our CTV growth.
Were looking for a meteorologist in this role because weather content is the biggest driver of streaming views especially during disruptive or severe weather. But were looking for someone who can also lead streaming efforts for breaking news and sports. Besides anchoring content from our streaming studio youll have opportunities to fill in on traditional broadcasts provide live coverage from our storm chaser and help with station school visits and community events.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Drive streaming viewership by regularly streaming weather content especially during severe and disruptive weather days
Respond urgently and appropriately to breaking and developing news
Produce and execute your own streaming segments
Use our various digital and broadcast platforms to publish content
Generate your own regular streaming segment ideas
Fill in as a meteorologist on broadcast newscasts as needed
Use our streaming weather vehicle to provide live coverage during significant weather days
Complete school visits and other community appearances as needed
Be a multi-platform storyteller with regular posts to social media and the stations various digital platforms
Qualifications/Requirements:
Exceptional on-camera presentation and adlibbing skills
Solid news judgment
At least 2 years of meteorology or broadcast experience
A four-year degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent professional experience
Familiarity with ENPS vMix Edius or other non-linear editing systems TVU Bitcentral or ARC Publishing is a plus
