The policy coordinator will have the opportunity to support statewide and federal policy and power building activities contributing to improving health outcomes at multiple levels. POSITION DETAILS
Job Title: Policy Coordinator
Salary: $50000 - $60000
- Salary is based on various factors unique to each candidate including skill set experience qualifications and other job-related reasons
Work Schedule: 40-hour work week
- LPHI offers traditional (M-F 8 am-5 pm) flexible (for example M-F 10 am-7pm) and compressed work schedules (for example M-Th 8 am-7 pm). Schedule details finalized between employee and manager.
Location: This is a Louisiana-based hybrid position with occasional (<20%) travel required
- LPHI maintains an office in New Orleans if the employee prefers to be 100% in-office
- Employee must reside in Louisiana during the time of employment

Reports To: Sr. Program Manager Policy
Supervises: none
Primary Relationships: Sr Program Manager Policy supports Chief Executive Officer and Chief Program Officer with project deliverables

ABOUT THE POSITION
A successful candidate will thrive in a team environment can proactively anticipate and manage challenges be a self-starter with strong abilities to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize appropriately. Day-to-day responsibilities include coalition coordination including agendas meeting minutes and follow ups; policy research analysis and brief development and program activity coordination.
LPHI is headquartered in New Orleans with employees based throughout the state. This position is based in New Orleans and can be fully in office or hybrid.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination
- Ensure preparedness and follow-through for meetings e.g. obtain and/or develop meeting purpose objectives and agendas list meeting attendees and roles schedule prep meetings as need take notes with action items/next steps including responsible party and schedule post-meeting debriefs and follow-up to track organization action items as requested.
- Manage and coordinate meetings trainings and events using virtual in-person or hybrid platforms as required.
- Lead coordination activities and support for projects including updating project plans and other project tools; timely processing of invoices and other reimbursements
- Anticipate project support needs potential roadblocks and proactively collaborate with team members to ensure tasks are completed.
- Engage in professional development activities to improve job-related skills and knowledge.
Policy Analysis
- Contribute to and author reports fact sheets policy briefs position papers and other materials to document state policies and legislative considerations and related program elements that support of LPHIs policy priorities and positions.
- Monitor synthesize and report on findings from academic and other research organizations in support of key policy and advocacy goals.
- Communicate and coordinate across internal teams to gain an understanding of internal assets to broaden perspective and to continue to grow and learn at LPHI.
- Identify policy-relevant data questions working closely across the organization to explore and define data analytics infographics and narrative storytelling necessary to highlight issues and influence and drive decision-making.
- Draft and produce policy and related materials including graphical and pictorial content.
- Participate in organization department and project level trainings and meetings.
Strategic Initiative Engagement
- Work with manager to research new partner and funding opportunities.
- Coordinate with the special initiatives team on emerging opportunities
- Help draft strategic communications to support manager as needed
ABOUT YOU
Position Requirements
- Bachelors degree in public health social sciences policy OR equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 1 3 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination policy experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with experience working with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to think proactively be a self-starter and function both independently and as a team.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong positive relationships with colleagues and partners both internal and external to LPHI.
- Strong policy research analysis and design capabilities.
