Job Title: K-8 Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:
If you have a passion for unique individualized approaches to learning and are an experienced licensed Special Education teacher Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (GCVS) is looking for you. Were seeking out educators who can apply their unique skill sets to our proven virtual home-based model of education. Youll be doing what you do best including teaching core subjects while implementing IEP goals and behavior plans. This is a full-time position working online with some potential in-person responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide direct services both push-in and pull-out as needed to students with IEPs on your caseload
- Responsible for working collaboratively with General Education Teachers and all other service providers in an Inclusive Practice model. This includes co-teaching with specific teachers and content areas.
- Obtain present levels/baselines using informal assessments
- Write IEP goals and objectives for annual reviews amendments and reevaluations
- Follow up with providers and general education teachers to confirm that IEP attendance reports and services are being completed
- Meet with Special Education families on caseload and their general education teacher
- Keep notes on conversations about students and maintain services log for all students
- Be available for families on an as-needed basis via phone email/chat and online meetings
- Schedule and lead IEP meetings online and follow up on attendees
- Follow up with parental or teacher concerns
- Work closely with the Evaluation Team Leader MS Spec Ed Coordinator Special Education Director and other grade-level Special Education teachers on student/family concerns and issues
- Update Special education files in ESPED with accommodations dates and other needed information
- Attend all special education staff meetings
- Complete IEP quarterly Progress Reports and other data collection for each student
- Respond as soon as possible but no later than 24 hours to parent student teacher and admin inquiries via phone and/or e-mail during the regular workweek
- This position has a focus on behavioral support for students across grade levels and requires collaboration with and guidance from the BCBA consultant.
- Providing focused interventions for higher needs learners in the areas of Math Reading and Behavioral support/social skills.
- Strong collaboration with SPecial Education Coordinators
Required Skills/Abilities:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- k-8 Special Education Licensure in Massachusetts Required
- Behavioral support (ABA) training and/or BCBA licensure preferred
- Communication is essential to effective collaboration and support of students and families.
- Citizenship residency or work VISA in United States required
- Candidate must have strong background in Technology
- This position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed and for lengthy periods of time.
- Must be able to see details on a computer and use a computer effectively to communicate and access educational programs create and maintain service log and other documents.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with numerous students at once by remote classroom participation including teaching simultaneous computer work and hearing and seeing student and teacher responses.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and positively with all staff.
- Must be able to occasionally travel in order to attend school wide outings proctor MCAS testing and/or Professional Development days.

Education and Experience:
A bachelors degree in education/special education or related field is required. Masters degree preferred. Massachusetts Special Education license in K-8 required. Licensure and/or training in behavioral support (BCBA/ABA) preferred. Candidates must have a strong background in technology.
