What Youll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director Human Resources the Manager Workplace Wellness Health and Disability Management will be at the heart of our efforts to create a vibrant inclusive and supportive workplace. Youll work closely with internal and external partners including unions insurers the Workers Compensation Board and government agencies-to design and deliver programs that help employees stay healthy return to work with dignity and feel truly supported.

You will be responsible for developing implementing and evaluating programs that support employee health and wellness as well as accommodation and return-to-work ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (e.g. Workers Compensation Act Human Rights Act Labour Standards Code Occupational Health and Safety Act Stronger Workplaces Act etc.) while fostering a proactive culture of workplace wellness.

Youll be a strategic force behind programs that help employees stay at work or return with confidence and dignity. Youll work hand-in-hand with a wide network of internal and external partners including unions the Occupational Health and Safety team the Human Rights Equity and Inclusion team the Human Resources team insurers the Workers Compensation Board and government agencies-to build and sustain a culture of care.

  • Innovative wellness and disability management programs that reduce the human and financial impact of illness and absence.
  • Initiatives that align with best practices and emerging trends in employee health mental wellness and accessibility to promote a psychologically and physically healthy workforce.
  • Strategic partnerships across the College to promote understanding and action around health accommodations and inclusive support.
  • Joint oversight of the Colleges comprehensive Mental Wellness Strategy which promotes mental wellness across our College community while upholding our values of accessibility diversity inclusion employee success student success safety public accountability sustainability and innovation.

What youll need

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Bachelors degree in a related discipline such as counselling education social sciences health promotion social work addition you possess training/course work in Disability Management or Return to Work. Specialized training and/or certifications in areas related to health promotion mental health and wellness disability management and evaluation would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of recent and related occupational experience as a subject matter expert and/or program manager in the area of workplace health promotion and mental wellness.
  • You have specific experience in health promotion mental health and workplace wellness with a strong track record of supporting adult health and well-being through education policy development and wellness initiatives in organizational settings.
  • Previous experience in Occupational Health or Disability Management (accommodations and return-to-work) is required.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail business software databases and reporting tools (e.g. Microsoft 365 Programs Oracle PeopleSoft).
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
  • You have leadership experience in a multi-union complex environment.
  • Ability to collect manage and present data metrics and dashboards to show continuous improvement or highlight risks such as reduction in the length of absences related to sick/short-term/long-term/workers compensation leaves.
