  • Is responsible for the quality and appearance of the product.
  • Responsible for the overall production of the Whey Department.
  • Provide leadership direction and guidance to production and packaging personnel and supervisory team.
  • Develop supervisory team skills and abilities to support the plant. Develop Cooperate with Maintenance and Engineering to coordinate and implement capital projects and maintenance activities.
  • Develop yearly departmental budgets in conjunction with the Plant Manager.
  • Monitor and control departmental costs in comparison with budgetary objectives.
  • Organize and plan daily/weekly production schedules.
  • Communicate with all employees to coordinate operations.
  • Schedule the optimum amount of supervisory coverage and ensure personnel coverage to meet the labor standards determined by the product schedule and budget.
  • Provide supervisory coverage on different shifts as needed.
  • Monitor and oversee the quality of the finished product by maintaining the equipment and facility in a sanitary condition.
  • Follow all established GSPs and GHPs.
  • Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices GMPs HACCP and company quality standards to insure the quality and appearance of the product.
  • Establish and maintain for Standard Operating Procedures for the assigned equipment and processes.
  • Communicate daily with the Plant Manager through oral conversations and written communications.
  • Identify equipment and machine problems and correct these problems by preparing and submitting the necessary maintenance work orders to reduce downtime.
  • Trouble-shoot and lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures through the process of continuous improvement.
  • Administer company policies and procedures with the assistance of the HR Department to maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Coach counsel and discipline employees when appropriate in accordance with Saputos policies and work rules.
  • Provide departmental safety training and enforce safe working practices at all times. Document and investigate every accident and injury within the department(s).
  • Promote safety programs and policies in order to reduce the number of accidents and injuries in the department(s).
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection of applicants for vacant positions within the department(s).
  • May supervise an additional production line or perform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
  • Must be able to appropriately handle and use cleaning chemicals. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of work area and Master Sanitation Schedules.

You are best suited for the role if you

  • BS in Food Science Microbiology Operations Business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years technical dairy manufacturing and sanitation experience
  • Minimum 2 years of whey experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in leadership management of a workforce including direct reports (such as supervisors)
  • Prior manager or interim production manager or people management roles is a plus
  • Strong organizational team building & communication skills
  • Strong project management skills & strategic follow-up approach
  • Soft skills proficiency (i.e. Word Excel PowerPoint Microsoft Office SAP (is a plus))

Salary Range: $104730 to $137455

Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience educations skills and training .
