Job Posting: Custodian/Bilingual Support - Roamer
The Hermiston School District is seeking applicants for the position of Custodian/Bilingual Support - Roamer. This role will act as a liaison between bilingual staff and the immediate supervisor providing oral and written Spanish/English translations and potential outreach. Responsibilities include routine cleaning and maintenance of the physical plant to ensure the buildings are in a condition suitable for full educational use at all times. The position is available immediately.
Required Qualifications:
- Bilingual/Bi-Literate in English and Spanish (ability to read speak write and communicate effectively in both languages) required.
- Ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Considerable knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Reasonable knowledge of standard practices methods tasks and materials used in maintaining school buildings and grounds in a safe clean and efficient manner.
- Reasonable knowledge of procedures and techniques for making routine electrical plumbing and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to read and write at the 10th-grade level.
- Physical strength to perform custodial tasks including the ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students fellow employees and the general public.
- Demonstrated high moral standards and character necessary for working around children.
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Board.
About the District:
The Hermiston School District is the largest in eastern Oregon serving over 5300 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. We are dedicated to offering rigorous and engaging programs mutual respect and high expectations. Our district includes a senior high school two middle schools and six elementary schools.
The community strongly supports the district with recent investments including a new elementary school a multi-classroom annex and various renovations. We employ over 630 staff members and serve a diverse population with about 50% Hispanic residents.

Salary & Benefits:
- Hours: 8.0 hours per day 259 days per year (July-June) including 8 paid holidays.
- Salary Range: $16.84 - $23.70 per hour based on relevant experience
