Summary


Metro Transits Facilities Division is hiring for a Transit Power Distribution Coordinator position. This positionpresents the exciting opportunity to use your talents and energy to facilitate and coordinate de-activation requests from contractors restore AC and DC loads following routine and emergency maintenance and repair of the trolley overhead systems.

About Metros Transit Facilities Division:

King County Metro Transits FacilitiesDivisionmaintainsall Metro Transit properties such as bus bases park & rides bus shelters and offices and maintenance shops. Services include bus shelter repairs and replacements bus shelter cleaning trolley wire repairs radio maintenance for buses environmental spill clean-up bus sign replacement graffiti removal and other facilities maintenance provides division-wide support functions for finance budget environmental compliance safety training administrative services and new employee orientation. Planning inventory/materials management work center workforce management functional asset management general/maintenance agreements systems support capital infrastructure sustainable resources/energy.


Recruitment Information:

This recruitment will immediately fill one (1) Transit Power Distribution Coordinator Career Serviceposition. In addition this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future Career Service as well as any fully benefitted Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) and/or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) vacanciesthat may occur in this classification and in this division. Eligibility pools remain valid for 12 months upon creation or until the list is exhausted at the discretion of the hiring authority.


SAFETY SENSTIVE REQUIREMENT:
This position is considered safety sensitive. Applicants for these positions are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and subsequent to commencement of employment will be subject to random post-accident reasonable suspicion return to duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Federal DOT alcohol and controlled substance testing program protocols.

Job Duties

As aTransit Power Distribution Coordinatoryou will:

  • Preparereviewand approve all planned/unplanned and operational switching tagging and clearance requests

  • Coordinate electrical and line crews in energizing and de energizing of the trolley overhead system and substation equipment
  • Utilize the SCADA system tomonitorpower distribution loads and de energize/re-energize AC/DC systems
  • Ensure work is conducted in accordancetoapplicable regulationsrulesand standards
  • Respond to system emergencies during and after working hours
  • Record compile andmaintainoperational data for trolley and substation systems
  • Coordinate with Power Chiefs Technical Assistants and Crew personnel to provide them information such as clearances switching orders and design modifications of new and existing electrical equipment and systems
  • Maintain data sources and manage databases; create reports and summaries from asset and maintenance management information systemsbillingand tracking invoices reimbursable.
  • Ensures highest level of safety
  • Prepare and process reimbursable invoicesin a timely manner
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills


Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Two (2) years of closely related experience to trolley overhead systems and substations.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties in critical situations
  • Knowledge of AC systems with voltages up to 26KV and DC systems with voltages up to 750 VDC
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel Word and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of trolley overhead substation and underground feeder systems
  • Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting plans schematics and diagrams in coordination with preparing switching orders.

Necessary Special Requirement:

  • A valid Washington State drivers license is required and an acceptable driving record. If you possess an out-of-state drivers license you must obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire.

Work Schedule:

This position is typically scheduled full time (40 hours per week).Employees must be available and willing to work any shift (day swing or overnight) weekends nights holidays and call-outs. Please note that this position is anticipated to be assigned an overnight shift to begin. This position is not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime eligible with prior supervisory approval. This position is not eligible for telework/remote work.
