About The Role:
As the Project Manager (Open Access) you will play a key role in enabling the success of the OA team by supporting the planning coordination and delivery of strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager you will work on a variety of cross functional projects from pricing pilots to workflow improvements and policy implementation while also contributing to the broader enablement of the team through operational support data analysis and stakeholder engagement.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact initiatives at the forefront of open research while also helping to build the infrastructure and insight that empowers the OA team to deliver on its goals.
Role Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Delivery
Support the development and delivery of Open Access (OA) projects by collaborating with stakeholders to shape project briefs define objectives and success metrics and assess feasibility.
Gather and document business requirements through interviews workshops and research.
Develop and maintain documentation timelines and stakeholder communications.
Track project progress flag risks or issues and contribute to ensuring timely high-quality delivery.
Team Enablement & Operational Support
Act as a key enabler for the OA team by supporting internal coordination resource tracking and process improvement.
Help maintain shared team tools trackers and knowledge bases (e.g. policy trackers initiative dashboards and policy and training documentation).
Contribute to inbox management (e.g. OA pricing queries) triaging and responding to internal requests.
Support the preparation of internal briefings team updates and leadership presentations.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with internal teams across Publishing Customer Services Sales Legal Communications Technology and other departments to support coordinated and effective project execution and BAU activities (e.g. handling of internal and external policy or pricing queries).
Maintain clear and proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle to keep all parties informed and aligned.
Data & Process Analysis
Collect and analyze data to evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement.
Help map and optimize internal workflows and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
OA Business Understanding
Develop a strong understanding of Springer Natures Open Access strategy policies and workflows to ensure that project work is informed by and aligned with broader business goals.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute ideas for process improvements and efficiencies within project workflows and team operations.
Identify recurring themes or blockers in team operations and propose solutions.
Experience Skills and Qualifications:
Essential
Experience managing and developing (sometimes interconnected) business projects.
Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders at various levels and on a global scale.
Understanding of publishing workflows.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
Confident and clear communicator both written and verbal comfortable working with senior and international stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret data and document requirements clearly.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Proactive resourceful and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Desirable
Previous experience in academic publishing or a related industry.
Familiarity with open access publishing and the OA landscape.
Degree or equivalent work experience.
Formal project management training or certification (e.g. PRINCE2 Agile PMP) is desirable.
