Job Description

The Department of Business Analytics and Statistics at the Haslam College of Business University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position of business analytics with a focus on applied artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) starting in August 2026. The department seeks candidates with a completed doctorate degree in Information Systems Operations Research Computer Science (AI/ML) or related fields with a business background or a focus on business applications. ABD candidates will also be considered but the doctorate degree must be completed before the start date of the position.



Applicants should demonstrate an ability to produce scholarly work targeted at top academic journals and the potential to become an excellent teacher. While research excellence is paramount we especially value candidates who express a willingness to engage as their career progresses in graduate and executive education (GEE) programs such as the MS in Business Analytics (MSBA) Executive MBA in Healthcare or Strategic Leadership Physicians Executive MBA and Aerospace and Defense MBA. Compensation will be highly competitive. Duties will include active research teaching business-oriented analytics courses advising students and other service activities.
