Position Status:Regular Full-time
Work Year:Works 12 months per year
Hours of Work:Monday to Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm; 35hours per week
Salary range: $23.30 to $24.13 per hour
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator (Early Learning Center) and the supervision of the Team Manager the Cooks primary responsibility is to prepare high quality well balanced nutritious meals and snacks that meet the Canadian Food Guide Standards for children in Early Learning Center programs as well as other kitchen hospitality duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
This knowledge would normally be acquired through completion of a post secondary diploma from a culinary/cooking program or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in menu planning and food preparation. A valid food handling certificate as well as first-aid certificate and valid CPR certificate is required.
DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing in order to deal with parents and staff which includes dealing with a variety of food allergies and intolerances. The incumbent must be able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. Must be able to balance many priorities towards timely completion of tasks.
