Fixed term: until December 2026 (14 months)

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the VIPPSTAR programme (VIPPSTAR)based at the Scottish Sensory Centre. The successful candidate will support the establishment of the VIPPSTAR Registry focusing on obtaining ethical approvals ensuring regulatory compliance and analysing public health data to inform evidence-based practice in childhood visual impairment across Europe.

The post holder will have expertise in epidemiology public health research and health data governance and play a pivotal role in preparing documentation for ethics committees liaising with research governance offices and leading on data analysis and reporting.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

The salary for this post is 41064 to 48822 per annum.

Main Responsibilities

- Lead on the preparation and submission of applications for ethical and governance approvals for the VIPPSTAR Registry (35%)
- Provide epidemiological and statistical expertise in the analysis of data collected through the Registry and associated sources (30%)
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data management protocols and coding procedures including ICD-10/11 coding (15%)
- Produce high-quality written outputs including interim and final project reports peer-reviewed publications and policy briefings (15%)
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the University and with external clinical and academic partners (5%)
