Job Description

Job Summary:

Are you an experienced cook and leader with a passion for cooking high quality food in a state of the art kitchen At MaineGeneral Health we pride ourselves in using responsibly sourced foods and incorporating as many local foods into our menu program as we can. We spend approximately 20% of our food budget on locally sourced foods for our patients employees and guests. We have a strong focus on community involvement and are motivated on improving food insecurity in the Central Maine area. We have an excellent reputation for our patient food and our award winning cafeteria was featured in Downeast Magazine as a Best Unexpected Lunch Spot in 2015.

We are looking for an Experienced Motivated and Energetic Individual to lead our awesome team of cooks dish room and floor stock staff. The position will challenge and build both culinary and people! If this sounds like you we invite you to apply for immediate consideration!

Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Culinary Supervisor reports directly to MaineGeneral Healths Executive Chef
  • Manage staff including hiring training and performance management.
  • Preparing and cooking food and know all styles of cooking performed in the kitchen
  • Menu planning inventory managing of supplies and labor resources.
  • Insures that the kitchen is up to safety standards
  • Developing cost saving opportunities through the MaineGeneral System
  • Foster a relaxed and hospitable environment in the kitchen among staff and coworkers.
  • Participate and organize community education events
  • Must be willing roll up your sleeves and work beside staff as needed.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Must understand receiving production and service flow
  • Ability to motivate an array of different personalities and skills. Ability to coach and mentor members of the kitchen staff; can manage multiple priorities demonstrate professional communication skills and a passion for a high level of customer service
  • Willingness to be flexible with scheduling as business demands
  • At least three years of experience in food service management or a related field preferred.
  • American Culinary Federation accreditation and or culinary degree highly preferred
  • Computrition experience an added plus
  • ServSafe preferred at hire OR within 6 months of hire
