CBC is looking for a creative and resourceful Producer to plan organize and execute digital video projects with particular focus on the CBC Arts and CBC Life YouTube channels. Working under the supervision of the Senior Producer CBC Creator Network and Unscripted Video the successful candidate will join a diverse and vibrant team who will help shape the next generation of digital video production at CBC.

In this role youll oversee the production of digital video series working with in-house and freelance shooters and editors to create content across different platforms from social to streaming. You will work closely with the video and CBC Arts and Life teams but also at times independently to bring an aesthetic eye and creative sensibilities to short- and mid-form content. There may also be the potential of working with the Creator Network team to produce digital video content with Canadian content creators.

The ideal candidate will have a background in video production creative storytelling and digital video publishing as well as familiarity with creating arts and lifestyle content for digital platforms (YouTube Instagram and Tiktok). Ability to communicate pitches and visual ideas coordinate shoots in studio and on location and create consistently stellar work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment is a must. You are a strong advocate for inclusion in your work and in the people you work with.

Key tasks:

  • Conceives and develops ideas and concepts for video series (recent and past examples: CBC Arts: In Process Art 101 Here & Queer; CBC Life: On the Inside Houseplanted).

  • Develops specific story ideas and pieces including the researching writing and/or editing of video material. Works with the CBC Arts and Life teams to develop the style pace tempo and format of the story with YouTube best practices.

  • Plans organizes and coordinates studio and location shoots.

  • Assigns videos to freelance video producers across the country and provides feedback to ensure alignment with standards and program objectives.

  • Books studios or other facilities required for the production shooting or editing of material.

  • Writes short copy/headlines prepares questions and develops background on stories and interview subjects.

  • Creates shot lists and mood boards that contribute to the focus and mood of the story when needed.

  • Assists with aspects of digital publishing including re-packaging or re-formatting creating social edits and finalizing graphics deliverables.

As required performs the following tasks:

  • perform final edit and necessary paperwork/reports;

  • Direct talent sound and/or image;

  • ensure in collaboration with Copyright Clearance Officers or others the proper and accurate clearance of all material;

  • Arrange for and conduct interviews;

  • Provide talent and crew with feedback to assist their performance.

You possess:

  • A university or equivalent experience along with five or more years of experience in related work.

  • Direct experience creating arts and lifestyle video for YouTube Instagram TikTok or other digital platforms.

  • A calm-under-pressure attitude and ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others

  • Basic video editing and packaging abilities are an asset.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime (when required)
