Job Description
**Job Title: Elementary School Academic Leader Grades PK-4**
**Location:** Brass City Charter School Waterbury CT
**Job Type:** Full-Time
**Reports To:** Executive Director
**Position Overview:**
The Elementary School Academic Leader plays a vital role in fostering a positive educational environment and ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence for students. This position involves providing instructional leadership promoting best teaching practices and supporting teachers in enhancing their instructional strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for education alignment with our schools mission strong leadership abilities and a commitment to the success of all students.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Instructional Leadership:**
- Collaborate with the executive director and staff to develop and implement the schools academic vision and goals.
- Lead curriculum development and alignment with state and national standards.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers on instructional practices.
2. **Professional Development:**
- Identify areas for professional growth and organize workshops training and collaborative planning sessions for faculty.
- Mentor and support new and existing teachers to enhance instructional effectiveness and student engagement.
3. **Data Analysis and Assessment:**
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
- Implement academic interventions and enrichment programs to address diverse student needs.
4. **Collaboration and Communication:**
- Foster a culture of collaboration among teachers staff and the school community.
- Communicate effectively with parents staff and the community about educational programs goals and student achievements.
5. **Student Support:**
- Advocate for student needs and create an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learners.
- Work with special education staff and counselors to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
6. **Curriculum Alignment:**
- Ensure that instructional materials and resources are aligned with curriculum goals and accessible to all students.
- Stay informed about educational trends research and best practices integrating them into the schools academic framework.
**Qualifications:**
- Masters degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a classroom teacher and in educational leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies assessment methods and educational trends.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instructional decisions.
**Working Conditions:**
- Work is performed in a school environment typically during standard school hours with occasional evenings or weekends for meetings and events.
- Frequent interaction with students staff and parents requiring strong interpersonal skills.
- This is a 12-month position.

- Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
