Description

The Diocese of Jefferson City is seeking a candidate for a newly created position within our Finance Accountant/Auditor will work to help parishes achieve best practice performance standards in accounting & finance. Position will be a knowledge resource to all parish bookkeepers and pastors regarding accounting procedures & policy and will partner with assigned parishes to review/inspect financial statements transactional records budgetary data performance reports/metrics and internal controls. May also act as interim or regular parish bookkeeper (working at the chancery).


Essential duties of this position include:

Reviews financial data supporting documentation and internal controls for compliance with GAAP & diocesan policy.

Reviews the parish budget(s) GL & supporting documentation ensuring revenues & expenditures are recorded accurately and that related reports are presented correctly.

As needed assists with accounting duties for and corrections to listed financial records.

As appropriate identifies and recommends updates to accounting systems and procedures.

Assists as needed with preparation of parish monthly quarterly and annual financial reports.


Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in accounting business or related degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.
