The City of Rancho Cordovas Communications & Public Affairs Department is seeking a College Internto work with the departments Community Engagement Division. The student should have a desire to assist with community related programs and projects. The ideal candidate would have strong communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Typical assignments include:


Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within the Community Engagement division networking professional development and building lasting connections with other interns mentors and City team members.

Applications will be screened by the Human Resources Department for minimum qualifications. Qualifying applicants may be contacted by the Department to interview. Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references passing a City-paid fingerprint check and depending on position applied for a pre-employment medical exam and a drug and alcohol-screening test.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Under close supervision this position will assist in a variety of tasks with the Community Engagement Division. Depending upon assignment typical duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook Work Excel Teams and PowerPoint)
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Verbal Communication
  • Research and Analysis
Ability to:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain attention to detail and high level of organization.
  • Interact professionally with residents businesses and other city staff.
  • Be open to direction and growth.
  • Maintain high verbal and written communication skills and networking skills.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Must be currently enrolled in six (6) units or more towards a bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the area of assignment.
    • College students with Junior or Senior level coursework experience is highly desired.
Experience:
  • Previous internships for community programs local government or other fields related to the area of assignment is desirable.
Licensure or Certificate:
  • Possession of or ability to obtain by the time of appointment an appropriate valid California drivers license.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTS

Requires the mobility and manual dexterity to work in a standard office environment use standard office equipment; speech and hearing to communicate in person and by telephone; vision to read handwritten and printed materials and a computer screen; strength and agility to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds; emotional and psychological capability to work alone concentrate or have frequent public and/or coworker contact. Some accommodations may be made for some physical demands for otherwise individuals who require and request such accommodations.
