What Youll Do

    • Under the guidance of the regional Special Education leadership team the Regional Case Manager will case manage the IEP process for a portfolio of 1-3 schools to drive forward and ensure special education compliance to established policies procedures and/or regulations. All ideal candidates will be passionate about meeting the needs of all students have specialized expertise working in special education especially in the area of special education compliance and have a make it happen attitude.
    • Case manage all IEPs at assigned sites and be responsible for all IEP development including IEP meeting coordination and facilitation and maintaining all required documentation as required by federal state and district regulations
    • Effectively facilitate contentious IEP meetings using a student-centered approach to resolving disagreements
    • Manage IEPs in districts Welligent or SEIS program
    • Ensure IEP timeline compliance of assigned caseload by using regionally mandated process and documentation
    • Complete weekly KIPP internal reporting documents for assigned sites
    • Develop related goals and objectives and recommend policies planning and implementation by working with school staff to meet the needs of students with special needs.
    • Serve as a resource for information regarding special education services programs and policies and ensure that procedures are appropriate in relation to policies required by region district state and federal regulatory requirements.
    • Administer formal academic assessments and write the accompanying academic reports
    • Analyze assessment results to drive IEP development
    • Monitor services provision using reports and communicate with stakeholders as needed about service provision
    • Serve as a resource and consult with teachers administrators and KIPP regional staff.
    • Address other duties and processes required to maintain the regions program of services and compliance for assigned sites
    • Attend regular meetings/trainings for regional case managers as well as at assigned sites for continued professional development and community building
    • Maintain knowledge of current Special Education regulations and best practices
    • Support teachers and administrators in implementation of appropriate strategies to meet the needs of students with IEPs
    • Address all parent communication related to the IEP process including scheduling notification coordination of IEP service delivery
    • Develop appropriate behavior support plans for students with special needs
    • Coordinate progress report completion in accordance with district guidelines
    • Manage relationships with outside vendors to ensure students receive all individually- prescribed IEPs services (i.e. Occupational Therapy Language and Speech etc.)
    • Participate in the RTI/SSPT process as appropriate
    • Manage and/or assist with the development of 504 plans at assigned sites
    • Teach Extended School Year during the summer
    • Covering classroom instruction in the event of a vacancy
    • Develop and provide ongoing professional development for general and special education staff and administrators
    • Develop positive relationships with parents and families in order to engage them in the IEP process and keep them apprised of student progress
    • Collaborate with regional Student Services team to explore the full continuum of services
    • Assist in the preparation of Informal Dispute Resolution mediation and due process material
    • Serve as a mentor and support to other special education staff members at assigned sites
    • Other duties/projects as assigned by the Regional Special Education Leadership Team

Youll Be Qualified If You Have

    • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is required; Masters degree with emphasis in special education highly preferred
    • Valid California credential for Level I or Level II Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate with Autism Authorization or Moderate/Severe) credential
    • Possession of either BCLAD or CLAD certification highly desirable
    • 3 years of effective case management skills required with at least 1 year of that experience within KIPP SoCal highly preferred
    • Minimum of 2 years of highly effective teaching experience demonstrating a strong track record of student performance gains with students with IEPs
    • Experience facilitating contentious IEPs which lead to IEP team consensus
    • Access to reliable transportation as you may be required to travel between school sites within any given day
    • Knowledge of LAUSD special education policy strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of Welligent and/or SEIS preferred
    • Excellent organizational planning and implementation skills
    • Ability to manage the ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in a fast-paced environment
    • Results-oriented
    • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituencies across multiple school sites
    • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
    • High proficiency in the Google Suite (Gmail Google Docs Sheets) and Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint
    • Takes initiative and demonstrates leadership
    • Ability to stay positive through challenges
    • Detail-oriented team player willing to roll up sleeves and get the job done

    • Salary of $86000 in the first year;Team member will move up on a salary scale each year after that.
