Job Description

The cheerleading program at Sheridan High School is growing and we are seeking an Assistant Coach to help continue the momentum.

This person will work with a Head Coach or volunteer coach at times and the cheer program is a long-term commitment; our season runs August - March with weeknight practices and games. Travel required for away Football games and competitions.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Effectively communicate with a diverse group of athletes coaches and game officials
  • Conduct practices in a lively patient and organized manner
  • Train and supervise the performance of the cheerleaders during practice games and competitions
  • Choreograph and teach cheer routines that incorporate stunting tumbling jumps and dance for both game day and competition teams
  • Address behavioral and learning issues with parents appropriately
  • Closely monitor students and teach safety
  • Manage and execute administrative duties like uniform purchasing fundraising team events etc.

Qualifications Required:

  • Coaching experience and certification (strong foundation of stunting and tumbling techniques preferred)
  • Current First Aid Card (or ability to receive one)
  • Ability tocomplete allOCCA required training
  • Mini-bus certification (or ability to receive one)
  • MeetOSAAstandards
  • Background check will be done
