These services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities as close as possible to peoples homes. Senior Speech & Language Job Description is aligned to the evolving changes to HSE National Structures and Service Delivery Models in relation to Slaintecare and the establishment of the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs).

The campaign design for the Senior Speech & Language Therapy Job Description as agreed with the Discipline Manager who decided that this recruitment campaign will be for the following care groups to include;

The care group area for the current vacancy is presented below along with a description of the services within that care group area.

Care Group--Cavan Monaghan Primary Care

  • Care Group Area 1: Over 18 Adult: Adult Acquired Older Persons. Covering Community & Acute Services - (FEDs mandatory)
  • Care Group Area 2: Paediatrics Primary Care. Covering Community services only (FEDs not mandatory)

Cavan Monaghan Primary Care Services have adopted the Community Healthcare Network (CHN) National Operating Model and have two CHNs;

1. Cavan Community Healthcare Network

2. Monaghan Community Healthcare Network

Both Community Healthcare Networks consist of Primary Care Teams and Network based staff which manage and deliver local community healthcare services to meet the needs of people in a defined catchment area.

Within Cavan there are eight Primary Care Teams and within Monaghan there are five Primary Care Teams and one Childrens Team within each Community Healthcare Network

  • 0.8 WTE Permanent Senior Speech & Language Therapist - for Care Group Area 1

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Senior Speech and Language Therapist in

  • Care Group Area 1: Over 18 Adult: Adult Acquired Older Persons. Covering Community & Acute Services (FEDs mandatory)
  • Care Group Area 2: Paediatrics Primary Care. Covering Community services only (FEDs not mandatory)

It is recognised that a small number of bespoke campaigns may be required for specialised settings:

  • Bespoke campaigns due to smaller number of posts: Acute Paediatrics (FEDs mandatory)
  • Bespoke campaigns due to small number of posts: Adult Mental Health (FEDs mandatory)
  • Bespoke campaigns due to small number of posts: Adult Disability (Intellectual Disability & Physical & Sensory Disability - FEDs mandatory)

Essential Criteria

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

Statutory Registration Professional Qualifications Experience etc

(a) Candidates for appointment must:

(i) Be registered or be eligible for registration as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

(ii) Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification clinical experience.

AND

(jii) Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

AND

(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

2. Annual registration

(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

3. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

4. Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character

Skills & Competencies

Post specific Requirements- relevant to the post being offered

  • A high level of clinical knowledge and evidence based practice to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role in the Clinical Areas chosen.
  • There should also be evidence of completion of CPD which is relevant to the clinical area chosen.

Demonstration of a depth and breadth of experience relevant to the posts available.

The following clinical areas will form part of the interview process within this campaign.

  • Care Group Area 1: Over 18 Adult: Adult Acquired Older Persons. Covering Community & Acute Services - (FEDs mandatory)
  • Care Group Area 2: Paediatrics Primary Care. Covering Community services only (FEDs not mandatory)
