Position Description
The Department of History at San Jos State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Public History with a preferred specialization in the history of modern Science & Technology who will partner with local community organizations and institutions to provide learning collaborations for undergraduate and graduate students. Key responsibilities include teaching the Introduction to Public History course creating and overseeing a Public History internships program and teaching upper-division courses in the candidates subfield(s) of expertise in addition to possibly teaching History methods and writing courses in rotation and occasional lower-division surveys. The new hire will also offer occasional graduate courses in their field of expertise as part of the departments MA programs in U.S. and World history. The successful candidate will contribute to the department and its interdisciplinary partners to establish a Public History program.
