Job Title: Community Employment Lead Janitor (CES)

Employee: Category Salary Exempt Full-time position

Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

SUMMARY

The Community Employment Supervisor is assigned responsibility to support two dependent PDI operations: first is to assume one of the lead roles in PDIs Community Employment program which is central to PDIs mission to support employment and life-enhancing opportunities to people served; second is to assume a lead role in PDIs custodial operations as directed at PDIs main facility and/or at customer sites CES may act as a substitute for the Pueblo Chemical Depot Custodial Supervisor at the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o Community Employment

o Work very closely with people served participating in Community Employment activities.

o Provide direction(s) to staff to keep them on task.

o Drive vehicles as required to transport staff to and from work locations.

o Complete time reporting procedures for staff

o Participate in time studies and other activities related to staff


Safety

o Follow procedures and directs others in the safe use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.

o Follow safety procedures to check electrical appliances and equipment before use.

o Notify maintenance or CE Leads with recommendations about equipment repair and replacement.

o Monitor the activities of staff to ensure that all safety rules and policies are consistently followed.


Custodial

o Mix and prepare cleaning solutions according to manufacturer specifications and PDI safety guidelines.

o Sweeps scrubs waxes and polishes floor

o Cleans rugs carpets and upholstered furniture.

o Dust the specks of dust on furniture and equipment

o Polishes metalwork

o Washes walls ceiling and woodwork

o Washes windows door panels and sills

o Empties wastebaskets.

o Transports trash and waste to disposal area

o Replenishes bathroom supplies.

o Sweeps mops scrubs and vacuums hallways and office space

o Transports small equipment or tools between departments.

o Sets up tables and chairs in the lunchroom work centers and other areas as required.


Vehicle use

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

As directed by the CAO Community Employment supervises the work of staff and may from time to time supervise the work of Community Employment Custodial staff toward other CEC staff.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PDI POSITIONS

You must be age 21 or over to work at PDI. You must also pass a pre-hire drug and background screen as well as random drug screens that may occur at any time and without notice while employed by PDI. You must be computer-literate comfortable with technology and with well-developed oral and written communication skills.


You must be able to complete and pass First Aid CPR and other required training.


If the position requires you to drive a PDI vehicle on company business then you must possess a valid drivers license and agree to a review of your motor vehicle record for addition to PDIs authorized drivers addition if the position authorizes you to drive your vehicle on PDI business then you must provide proof of automobile insurance and proof of required automobile insurance limits.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; five (5) years custodial experience required.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience working with people with a disability preferred.


LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to clearly and legibly write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with people served and their support networks and co-workers.


MATHEMATICS ABILITY

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Knowledge of word processing software spreadsheet software and Internet software.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The CES works in the PDI main facility customer sites and routinely drives to and from and works at various customer sites often while transporting people served. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable persons with disabilities to perform essential functions.


While performing the duties of this job the CED is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather). CES is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can become loud and hectic.


POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a non-exempt full-time position. Hours worked Monday through Friday may vary based on work requirements. Occasional evening weekend and holiday hours may be required to meet customer specifications and PDI needs.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.


The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with the aid of an assistive device. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and digits reach with arms. The employee is regularly required to talk and/or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand walk sit and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb and/or balance along with smell if chemicals are to strong.


TRAVEL

Extensive local travel and travel within 50 miles of the main PDI facility may be required for this position. Occasional out-of-town and overnight travel may be required.
