Job Summary:
The HR Generalist plays a vital role in supporting the human resources functions within our organization. This position is responsible for handling various HR activities including recruitment and onboarding employee relations benefits administration performance management payroll compliance and policy development. The HR Generalist collaborates with management and employees to ensure a positive work environment and alignment with organizational goals and values. The role requires a thorough understanding of HR best practices healthcare industry regulations and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate in a Matrix setting with the HR Director Operations Director and department managers to identify staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
Create job descriptions post job openings review resumes and conduct initial screening of candidates.
Coordinate interviews perform background checks and verify credentials.
Facilitate new hire orientation programs and ensure smooth onboarding process.
Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding HR-related matters providing guidance and support.
Address employee concerns resolve conflicts and conduct investigations when necessary.
Assist in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives.
Administer disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans in collaboration with management.
Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs including health insurance retirement plans and leave policies.
Educate employees on available benefits eligibility requirements and enrollment procedures.
Coordinate with benefits providers resolve issues and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Maintain accurate records and process benefits-related documentation.
Support performance management processes including goal setting performance appraisals and development plans.
Provide guidance to managers on performance-related issues.
Process biweekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies.
Maintain and audit payroll records for accuracy resolving discrepancies as needed.
Coordinate with Finance and external payroll service providers to ensure seamless payroll processing.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay deductions and taxes.
Stay informed on wage and hour laws and ensure ongoing compliance.
Ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations within the healthcare industry.
Stay updated on changes in HR laws and regulations and work with the HR Director to implement necessary revisions to policies and procedures.
Work with the HR Director and revise HR policies employee handbooks and related documentation.
Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records including personal information employment history and training records.
Generate HR reports and analyze data to identify trends address issues and provide insights to management.
Utilize HR information systems (HRIS) or other software platforms for data management and reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Human Resources.
Relevant certifications (e.g. SHRM-CP PHR) are a plus.
Proven experience as an HR Generalist in the healthcare industry.
Experience with payroll processing and HRIS/payroll systems.
Thorough understanding of healthcare industry regulations such as HIPAA and OSHA.
Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including ADA FMLA and EEOC.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Detail-oriented and able to handle confidential information with integrity.
Proficient in HRIS and other HR-related software applications.
Ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
