The full-time starting salary is normally 28287 per annum with progression available in post to 32006 per annum.

We have an exciting Graduate Project Officer opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated recent graduate who enjoys meeting and working with people and providing high levels of customer service.

The role will be to support the Graduate Programme Manager whilst being an integral member of the team in providing direct delivery to BCU students. The post holder will be part of a team continuing to develop and evaluate the Universitys highly successful BCU Graduate programme which was launched in September 2016

Assisting with event planning and front-line support organisation and a broad range of administrative duties will form the majority of the work. This role will evolve and develop as your strengths become apparent; a flexible approach therefore is also required. The role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity of being exposed to a number of important projects activities and events.

For this role you will be based in the City Centre campus Curzon building. During term time you will be expected to work full-time on campus. Some hybrid work may be possible during breaks in the academic calendar.

Main activities and responsibilities

The postholder will work with the Programme Manager to:

  • Liaise with a broad range of staff and students in faculties to implement support and advise on Graduate activities linked to both modules and extra-curricular requirements.
  • Maintain a high profile and visible presence in the Graduate office to help students access information and assistance in terms of the Graduate award and other services offered by the programme.
  • Contribute to the planning and administration of Graduate Week to ensure its success.
  • Deliver sessions in seminars/lectures to explain and promote Graduate.
  • Promote the programme through a range of social media platforms. Creating posts and campaigns that engage students.
  • Work with colleagues in the Careers family specifically Volunteering and Mentoring managers

Skills and Experience

  • A recent BCU graduate.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office and Teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-managing work style with the ability to prioritise manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

This vacancy is only open to Birmingham City University graduates from the academic year 2024/25. To be eligible you must have completed your course between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2025 and you must no longer be studying.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
